Take care to choose your words carefully?
Well
it’s not as important as you think it is. Relax… or can we? Time to get some perspective and get a grip on what really happens when you communicate with others. Here’s the story.
In his book Silent Messages, Albert Mehrabian said that when we listen to a speaker the message is conveyed both verbally (what we say) and non-verbally (how we say it). Nothing new with this I hear you say! Well, look at these percentages. The
non verbal
component can be further divided into visual and vocal components. In Mehrabian’s
research
he identified exactly how an audience perceives a speaker. And it is likely to different to what you think… Let’s take a look.
